Variety Wholesalers May Achieve Larger-scale Development With the Upgraded Big Lots

Jun 04, 2025

With the grand opening of the last batch of Big Lots stores it acquired earlier this year, Variety Wholesalers is considering taking over more stores.

The company will carry out the fourth and final round of store reopening activities in 78 stores on June 5th. These stores are located in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

After the official grand opening is completed this week, Variety Wholesalers will operate 219 Big Lots stores.

Variety Wholesalers announced: "The success achieved by the reopening of this series of stores has prompted Variety Wholesalers to explore the possibility of acquiring more Big Lots stores, which further demonstrates its commitment to the long-term development and expansion of the Big Lots brand."

In the new Big Lots store, there are clearance sales and "unparalleled discounts" for clothing, home furnishings and other categories of goods.

Variety Wholesalers acquired the Big Lots brand from Gordon Brothers, who bought its assets earlier this year when Big Lots filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code. Variety Wholesalers also owns and operates 380 stores in the southeastern United States. These Stores are respectively named Roses, Roses Express, Maxway, Bill's Dollar Stores, Super 10, Super Dollar and Bargain Town.
